A bit about the Owner
Katie has been working with Dermalogica since 1996, & she fully qualified as a Beauty Therapist in 1997. She went on to receive her Indian Head Massage certificate from Champneys College, Tring in 1999. Katie has dreamed about the Creation of Totality Day Spas & Life Centers since the age of 19. She knows that part of her life mission is to spread the word on Holistic Health and the importance of taking ‘Sacred’ time out for our selves to enjoy practices such as Yoga, Meditation,Spa Ritual Treatments, Massages & Facials. Even some times just a steaming hot bubble bath at home!
After working in a busy Hair & Beauty salon for 6 years she left England in 2001 to go traveling, & she found herself in Australia. Here she stayed for almost 2 years and very much enjoyed working in Sydney’s prestigious, award winning Day Spa and Laser Clinic ‘Escape Day Spa & Laser Clinic, Bondi’. Katie enjoyed seeing Escape being recognised by Dermalogica for their hard work and exceptional client care, & she was awarded two Dermalogica Platinum Circle Badges by Escape’s owner Emma Grossman. She was also invited to attended 1 day at Dermalogica’s Congress in Sydney in 2003 by Emma. Before coming back to the UK in 2004 Katie was attuned by Australian Reiki Teacher Fiona Dowe to levels 1 & 2 of the 7 Level system of Reiki & also enjoyed doing an 8 week Shiatsu Massage course.
September 2005 saw the opening of Totality Day Spa, Tring, & Katie went on to be extremely flattered to receive ‘Most valued client Award’ from Dermalogica and invited to the networking lunch at Gary Rhodes restaurant in 2006.
In 2007 she successfully passed the International Dermal Institute Diploma, and to date she has attended over 100 hours of post graduate training from Dermalogica and the International Dermal Institute, having attended regularly to their training quarters in Leatherhead & Kensington since 1996. This year saw her second invitation to dermalogica’s annual networking lunch in Cambridge. Katie also completed a training course on Ayurvadic diagnosis for the Therapist & a Shirodara course in 2007, which has given her a taste for this wonderful healing art of ‘Ayurvada’.
In 2008 Katie was invited by singer/song writers Juliana & Llewellyn from Paradise Music Ltd to take part in creating ‘Music for Beauty’ Cd. Katie helped choose the tracks alongside Juliana, and wrote the wording for the CD’s insert. It was a real, real honour as Katie had been listening to their relaxing CD’s and used them within her treatments since she was 17! She is still over the moon about this experience, & very touched. Also in 2008 she was invited to attend Dermalogica’s Congress in Istanbul! This most inspiring event within the Skin Care Industry happens every 2 to 3 years. She said it was sensational, learning all the latest within the industry and being inspired by the ‘Tribe’s Leaders’!
2010 has already been off to a good start by an invitation to Dermalogica’s Networking Lunch in Cambridge, in February, which was inspiring and enjoyable as ever. April 2010 has seen an invitation by the ‘Good Beauty Guide’ for Totality Day Spa, Tring, and an official 4 star rating, which Katie of course has graciously and gracefully accepted! Her plans for 2010 and 2011 is to enter Totality Day Spa into the Industry’s Professional Awards, such as the BABTAC Awards, Professional Beauty Awards & the British Beauty& Spa Awards.
